We love visiting this refuge. It's a great break on the drive to Memphis. We always try to spot Bald Eagles, but other birds and wildlife always make it worth a stop. The road around the lake is the perfect car-tour outing for legs too old or too young to enjoy hiking.

McCool lakes,love it here. A little noise around because it's right next too the I-40.
They management is very friendly and kind. The trails are kept safe as much as possible or they block them off until repair can be made. The lake and pond are so serene and calming. The birds of prey are well taken care of. The Cyprus trees are amazing as is the scenery everywhere. We frequent here to take pictures often.
They allow you to bring your dog leashed of course. Picnic tables for bringing your lunch. And a observation deck for overlooking the lake with binoculars.
